An Exclusive Lodging Accommodation On The Water’s Edge
Deb and Frank Pina, Jr., Proprietors
As your hosts, we wish to share the peace and tranquility of our woodland home with you. Our camp is a year-round retreat located on 1.3 acres alongside the AuSable River at 83 Cascade Lane in Jay, NY. The setting is quiet and secluded and the atmosphere is private and discrete. It is away from the hustle and bustle of other communities and, yet, near enough to the area’s attractions to afford easy access. Whether hiking the High Peaks, fishing the AuSable River, or skiing at Whiteface, the location is perfect.
You, as our guest will enjoy our newly renovated and appointed ground-level “River Suite” , complete with your own entrance, kitchen amenities, and private bath. The décor is comfortable and inviting with rustic elegance. We have blended Native American themes, natural elements, and outdoor collectibles in our rendition of the Adirondack style. Care has been taken in choosing a warm blend of colors, fabrics, and linens to pamper and indulge your every sense. The full-size custom-made, yellow birch bed and antique (circa 1916) Pullman convertible couch can accommodate a couple with one additional person, or two singles. Your private bath includes a shower and special amenities including in-floor heating and guest bathrobes and slippers.
Our guests will be greeted with a welcome basket of wine and cheese and the refrigerator will be stocked with beverages. The kitchen area will also offer a two-burner stovetop, coffeemaker, and toaster-oven for lunches and late-night snacks. Continental breakfast will be provided each morning with fruit, juice, cereal, and assorted home-baked breads and muffins with butter and jams. It is our hope to extend our meal offerings in the future.
The highlight of the suite is its access to and views of the surrounding outdoors. The sleeping alcove features its own window to the alpine air and sounds of the river. A sliding glass door opens to a private patio and the surrounding landscape. The property offers endless conifers, oaks and white birch trees. Our woodland path leads to a rustic fire-ring for your enjoyment all season-round (S’mores fixin’s will be provided). Approximately 250 feet of river frontage awaits the eager fisherman or enthralled naturalist. Eagles, osprey, various songbirds, and of course, the Great Blue Heron abound. In addition, ours is a “Deer Yard and visited by many woodland creatures. Adirondack chairs will grace your patio and fire ring. Other sitting and resting area, as well as, lean-to plans are in the works to assist in a quiet appreciation of nature during your stay with us.
AuSable Acres, in which we reside, offers miles of hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing trails, two tennis courts and a small lake for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Much of the surrounding land is State-owned, affording additional privacy. If you desire to book a wilderness guide for mountain-climbing, trail-hiking, or ice-climbing, our friend, Dave, a NYS licensed guide, is the man for you and we can help with arrangements. AuSable Acres maps and information will be provided at your request.
